Samuel's Page (part 5)

This page is to keep people updated on our youngest child, Samuel Alexander Marines Mills. We were devastated with the stillbirth in April 2002 of our 4th baby, Annabelle, and we are thrilled to have a chance to celebrate a new child. We have 3 older children also. Greg (Gregory Mark) is 22 , Tash (Natasha Ann) is 15 and Nick (Nicholas Robert Harke) is 13. Annabelle Kaye Marina would have been 4 this April 2006. Samuel is growing up on our new property at Collinsvale called Croesus. Samuel is going to become a big brother in April 2007.

September 14 2006. Happy 2nd Birthday to our gorgeous little boy :D (still dressed in his PJ's lol)

August 24. I like these two so had to put them up. My sometimes cuddly little boy. By the way Samuel is going to become a big brother in April next year.

August 11 2006. Tash turns 15 tomorrow so Robert got parts to upgrade her computer. Samuel decided it was time to be Daddy's little helper lol. There is also a pic of Tash wearing the clothes she bought with her birthday money.

August 9 2006. Took a few pics over the last few days. One is the last one of Samuels curls and the rest are after his latest hair cut. Once again he pick up head lice from somewhere and being the wriggly worm he is we couldn't hold him still to clean his hair individually or to cut it with scissors.

July 22nd, 2006. Samuel is now 22 mths old. A friend came down to visit with her dog, Scooter. Paula lived here for a while when Samuel was younger and we were building the house so Samuel and Scooter remembered each other and played together quite happily.

Not quite a picture of Samuel but this was taken this morning, July 22nd. It got down to -4C last night and the water going into the tank from the gutters off the roof, froze into an icicle. It looks like running water but it is frozen in place.

June 28th 2006. Samuel slept really well in his own room last night. I slept in with him but in the other single bed in case he awoke scared. he went to sleep just after 10pm and slept all the way through to 9:30am!!!

This is our room and shows where Samuels bed used to be. It is just a spare bed for now in case we have a rough night and he needs to come back in with us.	Samuel ahs a play table with a wooden train set. He does tend to add other toys in though. The oil heater is only until we replace the electric wall heater.

The door way showing light coming thru on the right next to Samuel is his doorway. Yep it is a long hallway.	Samuel's bed-head only has a low bed-head so I have his chest of drawers as a bed-head and it holds his books. The big Eeyore wall hanging is a rug made into a wall hanging.

June 27th 2006. Today Greg turned 22!!! Wow where has the time gone. It means I have now been a mum for 22 years. Tonight is also the first night that Samuel will sleep in his own room. Up til now he has been sleeping in our room. He graduated from a cot to a bed a few months ago but now he will also graduate to his own room.

May 14th 2006. Mother's Day 2006. We went to the beach and wrote some more Angel Names in the sand then up to visit Belles grave and place fresh flowers for her and my mum. Then we went over to see Robert's mum then home. Robert went to evening church with Samuel as I am still trying to get rid of a headache/migraine I have now had for 24 hours. 

Last Saturday Samuel scalded his right knee with hot water. We took him to the ER and the Royal Hobart Hospital and it was dressed with a seaweed dressing and bandaged. He went back on Sunday and a new burn dressing was applied. On Thursday it was changed and was already looking just about healed. he goes back on Monday (tomorrow) most likely no more dressings needed.

Below are some pics taken today.

April 28th 2006. We now have a webcam that updates once a minute and shows the mountain view from our deck. I have included a few pictures here to show the location of the camera to the computer and the lounge room. From the webcam the willow trees in the creek that marks our boundary and the mountain view look far away but they are quite close. The camera focus distorts it a bit.

From sitting on the couch looking outside with my computer screen visible on the left. It is dark inside because when I put the flash on you then can't see the outside view. The pile of logs is viewable on the webcam.

April 25th 2006, a couple of pictures of Samuel with me and my cat Alfie.

April 16th 2006. We are back after spending a couple of days up at Mt Field. I have put up 7 pictures because I couldn't decide which ones were better. Samuel is now 19 mths old.

April 10th 2006. Greg and his cousin rescued a baby rabbit from the cat. Samuel thought it was wonderful and I had to try and keep him from squashing the rabbit with loving cuddles.

March 18th 2006. Samuel can now climb out of his cot so we took the side off and made it into a small bed. He has a total of 12 teeth and I am guessing he is teething again. He has the usual sore backside and has a horrible cold which is making him very snuffly and hard to feed. This child does not believe in sleep. I consider it a minor miracle to get 3 hrs solid sleep but more usually he wakes every 2 hrs at night. day time naps can also be very hard to achieve. He constantly has something he wants to be doing. He has a favourite DVD called Hairy Maclary, a little dog from New Zealand who gets into lots of mischief, just like Samuel.

As for trying for a playmate for Samuel, I give up. Samuel refuses to be weaned and although he may only have a feed when he wakes and one during the afternoon he sure makes up for it at night. I am now 42 and I don't cope very well with all the wakeful nights and tend to get very short tempered. 

Not many new pics of Samuel as he hardly is still long enough to get a clear picture.

February 7th 2006. For my 42nd birthday on Feb 3 I was given the means to set up our fish tank again. Samuel loves it and spends ages talking to the fish and putting his fingers in the top of the tank. Some of the fish come up and nibble at his fingers. We have 3 children staying with us for a few days and I got an ok pic of Samuel with Kyra.

February 1 2006. Just a few pics. We had to shave Samuels head salt night as once again he has been given nits/head lice. He is too fidgety to let me look through his hair when it is long and curly so off it all came :(

January 23rd 2006. Oh I am so out of date here. Samuel is a dynamo with non stop energy. He is still breastfed at least 3-4 times a day. Some nights he sleeps all the way through and other nights I wonder why I bothered going to bed and trying to sleep. Samuel now has his 2 bottom molars and oh boy were they hard work!!! His vocabulary is getting broader .. or is it that we just understand him more.... photos below start at Christmas til now.

December 7th 2005. We finally have the tree up. During the move our tree decorations got misplaced but as my dad is not having a tree we have his tree decorations. Samuel just stood in awe this morning when he got up and saw the tree all decorated and the lights blinking. He didn't even try to take the decorations off the tree. He did have a closer look at them though but was very careful. We took some photos this evening and as I really can't decide which one I liked best I put a few of them here lol.

December 2, 2005. Samuels trip to see Santa at an Aussie BBQ.

November 27th 2005. Today was Samuel's Christening Day. Unfortunately we never managed to get any good photos, they were all blurry apart from a very few. We will try and get some photos of Samuel in his outfit when it is cleaned and he is not so tired and crabby. For now, these 3 will have to do.

November 6th 2005. By lunchtime today Samuel was in desperate need of a bath. Finally I managed to get some pictures of him that aren't blurry. he moves so much it is hard trying to get a picture of him.
